Science has always played a transformative role in society. It brings new insights about the world and abolishes old ones, regardless of who stands to gain and who will look like a fool. While the thousands of researchers, methodologies, and creations constitute the scientific establishment, the idea of science itself - as used in the modern world - hides its true nature.
Popular science has been weaponised against us. This new conception of science - let’s call it Science™ - is at best a marketing term. At worst, it is a malevolent social disease masquerading as unimpeachable truth.
Science™ is not about Man looking at the world around him and trying to understand what it means, how it works, and why things are the way they are. Science™ is about making horrible life decisions because someone told you it’s the scientific way to live. The emulation of style instead of substance is the basis of a cargo cult - and this is the nature of Science™.
Science™ is about making social media devices that prevent you from ever having a conversation with your neighbours. Your phone is far more Scientific™ than your voice.
Science™ is about creating new and innovative methods of birth control that stop you from ever giving birth and having a family - a cultural war relentlessly waged upon would-be mothers and fathers. Science™ is about desecrating and abusing natural systems for maximum physical pleasure.
Science™ is about justifying bizarre tax plans and wealth redistribution methods as somehow saving the planet. The Science™ method of confronting environmental problems is feel-good consumer ecology. The global consumer economy must never be slowed down, even when the Earth is terminally ill. Temperance, discipline, sacrifice: these are all un-Scientific™ values - and hence the domain of witch-doctors and shamans.
True science is a method for finding beauty in the world and making it understandable to others. Somehow it has become just another tool of the system to commodify us - to crush romance, idealism, art, and humanity.
We used to have another term for the study of the natural world; a more honest and uplifting term which was rooted in its origins and purpose: Natural Philosophy.
All over the West, government education is based upon a model known as the ‘Prussian system’. This method of teaching was designed above all to make students obedient to the state, with actual learning being a secondary concern. Before the rise of the Prussian system, the ideas people thought about weren’t artificially separated like they are today.
What was then called Natural Philosophy was a holistic discipline. Chemistry was intertwined with history, theology, and astronomy. Physics (the study of physical law) could not be separated from metaphysics (the study of physical meaning, roughly speaking), which could never be separated from ethics and statecraft. Even Napoleon Bonaparte advanced the study of geometry himself.
Before the age of pre-pubescent ‘sex-changes’, people understood things better. Our ancestors could see the world for what it was. All forms of expression had meaning to them, and Natural Philosophy was to them just another part in a greater, more spiritual whole.
It’s at this point that I would have written about the very relevant implications of Charles Darwin’s famous theory, but I don’t want to get arrested for hate speech - so please enjoy this dolphin.
What went wrong?
What was lost?
Why the hell don’t we have a moonbase yet?
It’s simple: because grand scientific pursuits need so many people and institutions to support them, fund them, contribute to them, and apply their results, those pursuits are necessarily reflective of the society which carries it out. Scientific programmes are necessarily expressions of the cultures that create them.
And our current culture is a corpse.
Science™ expresses this paradigm perfectly. We have no direction, no dreams, and no desires beyond crass consumerism and idle vanity. We are a generation stranded in modernity, cut off from our past, and facing a vanishing future. Accordingly, Science™ provides us with mobility scooters to carry our ever-expanding frames, hormone replacement ‘therapy’ for our children, and instant access to live, 4k, Virtual Reality, Smell-O-Vision porn.
But we will never be pacified and domesticated by these things. Instead, we are learning about and connecting with the legacy of our forefathers. Awakening within us is a legacy stretching back thousands of years by culture, and billions of years by blood. Within every cell of our bodies is a record written in DNA containing the history of all of our ancestors tracing back to that first spark of life in the primordial sea.
Science used to be about cool things like that.
Society used to be about cool things like that.
Why don’t we try to do cool things like that again?
